Shoulder complaints, including rotator cuff injuries
Shoulder problems can make everyday things surprisingly hard: reaching up, getting dressed, carrying bags or sleeping on one side. They can come on after a strain, or build gradually over time.
Understanding your shoulder
The shoulder works as part of a chain with your neck, upper back and arm. We'll talk about what you've noticed, when it started and what makes it better or worse, and I'll carry out relevant tests to check how the joint and the muscles around it, including the rotator cuff, are working.
How I work
I'll look at your shoulder alongside your neck, upper back and posture. I use McTimoney, a gentle technique with light, precise adjustments. (Find out more about McTimoney) I'll also suggest simple movements to keep your shoulder moving comfortably between visits.
When to get urgent help
Go to A&E or a minor injuries unit if your shoulder looks deformed after a fall, or you suddenly can't lift your arm at all. Call 999 if shoulder or arm pain comes with chest pain, breathlessness or sweating.
